What's the difference between whisky and brandy?

-- What exactly is the difference between brandy and whisky? --

Different materials

Brandy is made from grapes and various fruits, and the brandy I usually see in the market is a "fine wine" made from red grapes. If the brandy is made from fruit, it will not be named by the name of "brandy" alone, but by "XX fruit name whisky course + brandy", such as the common "cherry brandy For example, "cherry brandy", "apple brandy", etc. However, the fame of fruit brandy is far from the fame of red grape brandy.

Whiskey is made from important ingredients such as grains and cereals, such as wheat seeds, rice, wheat, oats or black beans. The quality of whisky made from "wheat seeds" is the most famous among all whiskies. The whiskies seen in the market can be divided into three main categories, namely: blended whisky, single malt whisky and grain whisky. But the most common is a variety of blended whisky, and the real grain whisky is rarely seen, because it is generally used as the original blend of whisky.

To sum up, from the raw materials, the two are very different, brandy raw materials for red or fruit, usually red grape; whisky raw materials forcarpet and hard floor steam cleaner grain, usually wheat seeds.

The brewing process is different

Brandy is the red grape or fruit first made into juice or make effective crust residue, and then after the alcohol, distillation process to obtain high alcohol content of brandy raw wine, and then the raw wine into the oak barrels for a long time to mature, and then finally use the matured raw wine blended out of different alcohol content of brandy to carry out the canning and sales. Brandy is generally 40~45 degrees in alcohol, and its flavor is mainly the aroma of red grapes or many fruits mixed with oak barrels after maturation.

Whiskey is made from raw wheat seeds or grains through malting, saccharification, alcohol generation, distillation, maturation and other distillation techniques. In the whisky making process, "maturation" is said to be the "key soul" of whisky quality. Even if the previous process is done well, if the maturation period is not long enough, then the resulting spirit is not qualified to be called "whisky", only ordinary "distilled spirits". Generally speaking, a qualified whisky, maturation time should not be less than "three years".

To sum up, from the brewing process, brandy and whisky key difference is the pre-processing of different raw materials. And the process of alcohol, distillation and maturation are more or less the same.

Different color

After the brandy is made, the color of the Kids21 finished spirit is not "white" or "colorless", but golden and transparent. There are many different colors of whiskey, and the actual color depends on which ingredients are used, as whiskey is made from a wide range of ingredients. For example, whisky made from wheat or wheat seeds is golden and brown, while whisky made from other grains is about the same color as the raw material.

To sum up, in terms of the color of the finished wine, brandy is basically golden in color, while the color of the finished whisky is related to the raw material.
