
The patch panel connector is usually used to ground the cable shield. Subsequently, the panel is connected to the rack, which in turn is connected to the TC's telecommunications grounding busbar. The work-area outlet is not the place to ground the cable shield.
UTP cables are thinner than STP cables and do not have shields, making cable installation and maintenance simpler, especially in small spaces. STP cables' shields, however, are relatively brittle and stiff. Interference is likely to impact cable systems if the shield was damaged.

Originally, Cat7 and Cat6 were essentially created together for a maximum speed of 10 Gbit/s over a distance of up to 100 meters. The main distinction between Cat6 and Cat7 is that Cat7 has better shielding and a larger bandwidth (600 MHz) than Cat6 (250 MHz) and Cat6a (500 MHz).
